Empty Vessel

This work questions the idea of a phenomenological understanding of place, whether one can re-live memories through the act of photographing. A phenomenological approach to place can be that these spaces live separate from us, containing an agency of their own. The other is that place is a product of our experience and devoid of us, it would hold no definition.

the photographs chase the latter of this statement, that we make this meaning ourselves. What is produced, is a series of photographs retracing spaces of my youth and stories that have been forgotten.

The work is printed on silver gelatin prints, housed in a hand-made clamshell box. It was also produced into a small edition of 5 zines.
